Google Ads — Honest Advice, Not a Retainer

Google Ads Isn't Where Most Local Businesses Should Start

Ads work — when the budget is real and the foundation underneath them is solid. For most Inland Empire service businesses, neither is true yet. So I lead with fixing the foundation instead. If ads are genuinely right for you, I'll tell you that straight, and we'll talk about the smartest way to go about it.

The Math That Changed My Mind

Running ads properly means at least $1,500 a month in ad spend paid to Google, plus management on top. That's real money before anything has been fixed on your website or your Google Business Profile — and the day you stop paying, the leads stop with it.

A one-time visibility setup costs less than a single month of that, and what it builds keeps working whether or not we ever speak again. That's a better first dollar for almost every business I talk to. Once that foundation is in place and converting, ads become a multiplier instead of a crutch — and that's the right time to add them.

Ads Are Probably Right For You If…

  • You need calls this week and can't wait 90 days
  • You can sustain at least $1,500/mo in ad spend for three straight months
  • Your average job is worth a few hundred dollars or more
  • Your website already converts — fast, credible, easy to call
  • You can answer the phone when it rings

If two or more of those aren't true, ads will spend your money and you'll conclude marketing doesn't work. It's the foundation that isn't there yet.

Google's New-Advertiser Credit

Google regularly offers a promotional credit to brand-new advertiser accounts — usually you spend a set amount in your first 60 days and Google matches part of it, commonly around $500. The exact offer changes over time and not every account qualifies.

If you want to try ads on your own, this is the cheapest way to find out whether they work for your business. I'll check whether you're eligible and show you where to claim it. Free, and it doesn't involve me after that.

Already Running Ads? Free Account Review.

Send me access and I'll look through the account for free — geography, negative keywords, conversion tracking, landing page — and tell you plainly whether it's set up sensibly or quietly wasting money. If it's fine, I'll say so.

You get the findings either way, in plain English, with no obligation to do anything about them with me.

Common Questions

Do you manage Google Ads?+

It's not what I lead with anymore. I focus on AI visibility and local SEO — the work that keeps paying after you stop writing checks. If ads genuinely make sense for your business, bring it up on the call and we'll talk through the options.

Why did you stop leading with ads?+

Because of the math for a small local business. Ads meant $1,500/month minimum in spend before a single dollar went toward the work, and the moment the card stops, the leads stop. A visibility setup costs less than one month of that, and what it builds keeps working. For most Inland Empire service businesses, the foundation should come first.

What about the free Google Ads credit I keep hearing about?+

Google regularly runs a promotional credit for brand-new advertiser accounts — typically you spend a set amount within your first 60 days and Google matches part of it, often around $500. The exact offer changes and not every account qualifies. If you're curious, I'll check whether your account is eligible and show you where to claim it. It costs you nothing and it doesn't involve me.

So should I run ads at all?+

Sometimes yes. If you need calls this week, you have a real monthly budget you can sustain for at least three months, and your average job is worth a few hundred dollars or more, ads can work well. If any of those three isn't true, ads will burn money and you'll blame marketing. I'll tell you which situation you're in on a free call, even though it isn't what I lead with.

What if I already have ads running?+

I'll look at the account for free and tell you plainly whether it's set up sensibly — geography, negative keywords, conversion tracking, landing page. If it's fine, I'll say so. If it's bleeding money, you'll know exactly where, and what to do about it.
